Parsley Bay I.
This art piece is the first one of the Parsley Bay series. Artistic exploration inspired by Vladi’s own research and experiment at The University of Sydney within her Illumination Science course with Professor Wendy Davis. Vladi has explored the neuroscientific background behind the effects of light and colour in her own art piece. This research has been in 2023 awarded with Philips Prize for Illumination Science by The University of Sydney

The paintings series of Parsley Bay has been inspired by the findings in Vladi’s scientific research at the University of Sydney / Illumination Science course in 2021-22. What started as a small assignment exploring how various visual effects can be achieved through colour combination, later turned into the first research of its kind on colour constancy in painted art.
Acrylic on canvas | 1500 x 1000 mm | Private collection
Inspired by her own painting of Provance, Vladi examined mesmerising symphony of purples, oranges and blues that create unexpected and vivid dialogue in her painting. And then explored the neuroscientific processes behind human perception and also visual phenomena that bring out more vividness and strong saturation in perceived colour and light.
Similarly, Australian natural environments offer breathtaking lighting ambience and tranquille colours and Parsley Bay series is a first step on the journey of exploration.
Parsley Bay III.
Parsley Bay III, third of the series, this time explores an unusual view of one of the most loved bays in Sydney. Rarely, the tide conditions allow passage through to this side of the bay into the cave guarded by lush wild vegetation and ever dripping water. There is everything beautiful about this place. Be it serenity of the nature welcoming us in her arms through beautiful rock formations of arched caves; or the locals having the bay interwoven tightly into their lives. This painting explores the play of colours, shapes and space.
